SOURCES OF DEBT

•  We also have working relationships with providers of complementary sources of debt funding including, where appropriate, Small Firms Loan Guarantee Scheme SFLGS . PHGs are sometimes start-ups and can find it difficult raising funds from banks. VCL has relationships with lending institutions which will lend to companies which have been refused by high street banks

•  VCL was established in response to the founders' experiences of poorly-prepared businesses which had spent months unsuccessfully courting investors at one BAN, moving to another for a few more months, then running out of cash; we have also seen other companies being poorly promoted by ‘consultants' whose charges have, in one case, exceeded the share capital and drained the client company of cash without achieving investment

•  VCL can help banks to lend to their customers by raising sufficient equity to enable loans which would otherwise be impossible. (In this context, VCL particularly has access to investment houses specialising in recoveries)
